I’ve chosen three photos, from various places, that I feel exemplify a certain vibrancy and beauty that I’ve noticed surrounding the art and the culture in this area.
I’ve chosen three photos, from various places, that I feel exemplify a certain vibrancy and beauty that I’ve noticed surrounding the art and the culture in this area.
This was taken at the top of Shika Mountain, a mountain we summited via cable cars. The wall stood out against the mountainous, gray and green backdrop. It had little, colorful, wooden hearts all over it with names of people that have visited the spot.
These are prayer flags we saw when we visited a local monastery. Ever since we’ve arrived in Shangri-La, I’ve been captivated by the prayer flags and we’ve seen them everywhere from the tops of mountains to inside people’s homes. They are placed in sacred places to help send prayers to heaven.
This photo was taken on Shika Mountain. We had to duck beneath the little colorful tags and trinkets at some points, and the way they were hanging above us made the mountaintop feel even more special, even more important.
